Trying tatty

An experiment today (we'll call the last two weeks "today" shall we? ;-) ) with tattying up a card.
The last week of June is the week of en masse birthday's for me, so I am being mildly organised for once and starting on the Birthday cards now.

This is for my best friend from Uni, who doesn't read my blog...LOL
She is a woman of nature, loving being out bush and spent many hours volunteering cleaning up ivy and other noxious weeds in the mountains, before they moved out to a flat, dry part of the state. They'll be back. I've been saying that for four years, now, they'll be back. I am an optimist.

Corinna had explained to me the technique of brayering ink onto the embossing folder, before embossing the paper, which sounded very exciting. I tried it a few times, with minimal success, which I think had to do with trying pigment inks instead of dye inks. Having just recieved my lovely new "Pear Pizazz" ink, I tried it with the "Manhatten Flower" embossing folder, on the "Whisper White" paper. It worked beautifully

I use the Fabulous Friend stamp from the Oval All set, with Old Olive ink, and the Scallop oval extra large punch, to punch out the image, and another oval in the Crumb Cake card stock. The card bas is also Crumb Cake, and I stamped the co-ordinating "Fifth Avenue Floral" flower stamp in Crumb Cake ink, around the edges.

I used a distressing tool to tatty the edges and sprayed all pieces except the card base with Forest Green shimmer mist (Non Stampin Up! - but can be made in Stampin Up colours, I'll explain that another time). I found a matching satin ribbon and frayed the ends.

I think I like it. I may have to keep it on my board for a while to see if I can make a better version. However, it is a finished card! Yey!

I am trying to encourage myself to make the insides of the card more special, so here's step one of doing that.

Onwards! NOw to see just how much glitter I can use one a Black and White only card, for the Just Add Ink challenge this week. No colour?! Then it must sparkle!

Just Add Ink Challenge 66 - Just add a flower

Welcome to my new Art Blog!
I hope you like the decor, I went for "Hospital suite" green, with "Calligraphy graffiti" so you can stay mildly entertained while waiting for a new post.

"Just add Ink" is an enjoyable card making website, which hosts Challenges each week.  I have been intending to join in these challenges for over a year now, so tis nice to finally be organised!

This week's challenge is to "just add a Flower".

I completely admit that needing to have this card posted today for Mother's Day was a great encouragment!

So, here 'tis!

The Happy Mother's Day stamp is a from the Stampin' Up set, "All Holidays".
The paper used is Stampin' Up's Rose Red and Whisper White (sounds a bit like fairytale princess names) and vellum.

I will pay more attention next time to the names of the punches and embossing folders used, but I do tend to throw away packaging, so it could be a bit iffy.

Now I shall post and go and admire many, many other Floral cards!
